PYSANKY REPRESENTING NEW YORK STATE (Especially Elmira and the Finger Lakes Region)

Image
I was chosen to represent New York State for the Presidential Easter Egg collection at the White House in 2008!!!  I decided to put grapes, wine glasses, fish, water, checkered flags, and Mark Twain on the eggs.  Our region is famous for its wineries, lakes, and car races.  Also, Samuel Clemens, Mark Twain, wrote most of his books in Elmira. He and his whole family are buried in our Woodlawn Cemetery.  This is a fantastic place to visit.

WOODBURNING & MARKERS DESIGN ON WOODEN EGG Using a wooden egg, draw design with pencil on the surface.  Heat the woodburning tool and trace all the lines so that they are burned into the wood.  I used permanent markers to color the egg and then varnished it.
